Silver Lake Trail

For my husband and I, Sunday is our Hike Day. We recently moved to Middlebury, and we are having fun exploring the plentiful hiking trails found within a 15 minute drive of our house. There are the Trails Around Middlebury, Moosalamoo State Park, Mt. Philo, Snake Mountain, and Lake Dunmore State Park, just to name a few. We're in the middle of a great hiking oasis. It's fantastic.

This Sunday was Silver Lake Trail. A short trail with a moderate incline.

We reached the the Silver Lake Campground. The lake was beautiful.

I love summertime, when the light through the trees makes so many different shades of green!

The campground. It was so peaceful!

I loved the light and shadow on the sandy ground juxtaposed with the dark forest.

The morning light was incredible.

Thirsty orange pine needles.

It's so peaceful and soothing the way the light falls in the forest.

There was a beautiful brook that followed the trail part of the way.

I can't wait to go back sometime super early in the morning and meditate by the lake. I can only imagine how beautiful and peaceful it would be with the morning mist rising off of the water and the sun slowly creeping through the clouds...
